Some ideas are very familiar for me, and I share your thoughts, for example about mail, facebook, alcohol, capitalism etc. Others are less obvious for me. For example the fact that travel is inexpensive causes people to live without the protection of their families. You know, I'm Italian but I live in Paris since 2002. I have to say what you write it's true, I more and more solitary and disconnected. I spend hours at home doing some retouching or writing. This is a "noble" form of disconnection, but it is still a form of alienation. Maybe this is the reason why one of my favorite soundtrack when I'm working is Pink Floyd?
